About this deal

My favourite phrase of the book was "if the data shows that index funds aren't better, the data is wrong". Rather than listen to their siren songs, investors large and small should instead read Jack Bogle s The Little Book of Common Sense Investing . I wish the book was a little longer, with some discussion of the disadvantages of these index funds and a clearer display of how level-headedness and the Dunning–Kruger effect contribute to people being so determined that they can beat the market. I would also recommend very strongly Jack's other seminal book, 'Enough': Enough True Measures of Money, Business, and Life by Bogle, John C.

Bogle has also added two new chapters designed to provide further guidance to investors: one on asset allocation, the other on retirement investing. Dec 2017 I had meeting with my investment advisor, my wife and I left the meeting and we both conferred (on the car ride home) that he seemed not his usual confident self. Filled with in-depth insights and practical advice, The Little Book of Common Sense Investing will show you how to incorporate this proven investment strategy into your portfolio. Bogle is the author of ten books, including Enough: True Measures of Money, Business, and Life, The Little Book of Common Sense Investing, and Clash of the Cultures: Investment vs. What several investors and academics—from Warren Buffett and Benjamin Graham to Paul Samuelson and Burton Malkiel—have to say about index investing.I selected this book because it is the Anniversary edition and figured it had the most info as it pertains to updated examples-2017economics-recent political climate. Tramite prove supportate da dati numerici e principi di comune buonsenso, l'autore apre gli occhi al lettore sulla realtà legata ai fondi di investimento attivi solitamente proposti in banca. Bogle shows you how to make index investing work for you and help you achieve your financial goals, and finds support from some of the world's best financial minds: not only Warren Buffett, but Benjamin Graham, Paul Samuelson, Burton Malkiel, Yale's David Swensen, Cliff Asness of AQR, and many others.

note I have no prior belief whether index funds are better or not, I simply struggle with such fanatical bias). To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. To learn how to make index investing work for you, there’s no better mentor than legendary mutual fund industry veteran John C. You ll also find warnings about investment fads and fashions, including the recent stampede into exchange traded funds and the rise of indexing gimmickry. also note that avg tenure as a fund manager is 9 years, and tons of funds close when they have a poor performance period. It starts out very fun, making a strong case to attach itself to Thomas Paine's Common Sense, The Rights of Man and Other Essential Writings, the book that led to the American Revolution. Like, he keeps on talking about how Main Street can make investing work for it, but like, what is this "Main Street? The whole book can be summarized in one sentence: index ETFs are better than mutual funds because they track the whole (or a good chunk of the) market and have very low costs.

Trying to beat the market "is a loser's game," according to Bogle and "the more the managers and brokers take, the less investors make. This new edition of The Little Book of Common Sense Investing offers you the same solid strategy as its predecessor for building your financial future. He had been associated with a predecessor company since 1951, immediately following his graduation from Princeton University, magna cum laude in Economics.

However, this book presents an individual solution to a systemic problem and doesn't seem to seriously consider that there are any inherent flaws in this capitalist system that leads people to have to invest money to be able to retire in the first place. Bogle shows you how to make index investing work for you and help you achieve your financial goals and finds support from some of the world's best financial minds: not only Warren Buffett but Benjamin Graham, Paul Samuelson, Burton Malkiel, Yale's David Swensen, Cliff Asness of AQR, and many others. If you want to stop them, drop everything, read this marvelous little book, and take it to heart; your children, and their children's children, will thank you.

I am going to pour through several other books but I suspect that there's going to be changes made in my investment philosophy. Bogle as one of the four "Investment Giants" of the twentieth century; in 2004, Time named him one of the world′s 100 most powerful and influential people, and Institutional Investor presented him with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Plus, you’d have to wait about 25 years to know who that is, by which time you’ve already missed out! This would be a great book to start since this book was written for normal people, not financial specialists.
