This harness says it’s handwash only. I mean, this seems like one of the most ludicrous statements to make about a harness, especially a harness that’s made for hiking – but I will be totally honest. I’ve washed it in the machine, and it’s absolutely fine. So… I’m really not sure why it’s apparently not washable? Do I Recommend The Ruffwear Flagline? The Ruffwear Flagline harness is a game-changer for three legged dogs. It’s the leanest and lightest harness yet, and the only Ruffwear harness that slips over your dog’s head making it the easiest to put on front-leg amputees – regardless of which leg is missing. The Ruffwear Flagline Harness is a Game-Changer for Helping Tripawd Dogs

But I’d actually yet to test it for myself. So, I got in touch with ruffwear, and asked if I could get one for review. They said yes, and I’ve been testing it out on my hikes and wanders with Indie to see how it stands up to it’s design purpose and what you may be able to do with it. When the slider is near the body of the harness (the piece with the Ruffwear logo on), it is at its smallest setting. When the slider is near the chest plate (the piece with the fabric loop on it), it is at its largest aperture. Another bonus is that the fixed chest panel actually results in more space between the straps and Glia’s armpit area. Even with full extension of the adjustable chest panel strap on the Webmaster, the Webmaster did not allow as much room as the Flagline Harness does. Highly Adjustable A note about front-leg amputees: The Flagline is truly the best harness for front-leg Tripawds yet. But keep in mind that without that fourth leg, all harnesses may shift a bit during the day. When sized and properly adjusted, however, all harnesses we carry have minimal shifting. A handle and load-dispersing chest/belly panel make for easy lift-and-assist in a minimal design good for all-day wear. High adjustability and easy on/off make the Flagline secure and accessible, especially popular among tripods, deeming it the harness of choice for giving dogs a little boost and a lot of freedom when the path ahead is anything but flat.

Your Bag

This harness is solid. The fabric doesn’t snag easy. The base plate (chest plate? Whatever you want to call it underneath your dog!) is not only great protection, but it’s also wonderfully effective for spreading and containing your dog if you need to lift them. Dog Sports Dogs My 100+ lb. Akita recently lost a front leg to cancer. Although he’s adapting really well, he still sometimes stumbles and walking on hard surfaces can be a little tough on him. I’ve tried to provide him with some extra support using various harnesses and it was really tough to find one that give him good support, didn’t hurt me, and did not interfere with the surgery scar. The Flagline hits on all counts. It’s comfortable for him and I can give him constant support during a walk without either of us getting uncomfortable. It took a couple of tries to adjust it, but the online video helped a lot and it went relatively easily. Ruffwear's diverse range of harnesses offer solutions for a variety of purposes - from everyday use for a domestic pet, to lift-and-assist for rescue dogs. This guide will help you measure and fit the Flagline Harness. Getting Accurate Measurements Of Your Dog I gave it 4 stars only because I wish the material came up higher on the sides. There’s a lot of exposed strap and I feel it make chafe him on long walks. A nice touch might be a matching sleeve that can be slipped over the strap (and maybe some velcro to attach it to the existing material) to provide some extra padding. I might look for some velcro luggage handle covers to do the job.

Balanced and comfortable lifting with padded handle and load-dispersing chest/belly panel. STRONG CONNECTIONS But the Flagline Harness isn't just about comfort and convenience. It's also about providing your dog with the support they need. The harness features a padded handle and a load-dispersing chest/belly panel. This design allows you to lift and assist your dog easily, making it ideal for senior dogs or when the terrain gets a bit challenging.

Not all harnesses are suitable for all dogs, or all conditions. So, here’s a few things that I see as being potentially problematic in regards to the flagline. Dirt dwellers If you walk in high traffic areas, this is a great feature. Here in Minnesota, it is already dark by the time we walk throughout the fall, winter, and early spring. Reflective trim helps us keep safe on our nightly walks. Overall Review Lightweight design with high adjustability and a debris-resistant liner that sheds dirt and fur. COMFORTABLE LIFT & ASSIST The size small Flagline Harness is intended for dogs with chest circumferences from 22 to 27 inches. Despite Glia being on the high side of that range, we still had plenty of strap left for future adjustments after fitting the harness to Glia’s current size/shape. So why wait? Give your dog the comfort, control, and freedom they deserve with the Ruffwear Flagline Harness. It's not just a harness; it's a passport to adventure. Features of the Ruffwear Flagline Harness

Ruffwear is a well-known company in the world of dog-apparel and harnesses. If you have read many articles on this blog (or if you follow us on social media), you may have noticed that our dogs are frequently photographed wearing Ruffwear Webmaster Harnesses. The Webmaster Harness fits both dogs well and has held up to a lot of abuse on hiking trails. So when Ruffwear announced an updated version of the Webmaster Harness, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on the new Flagline Harness. I’m a firm believer in having one thing that can do everything. I guess that makes the flagline the swiss army knife of harnesses, huh? Lightweight The pictures below compare the Webmaster to the Flagline again. You can see how the belly strap is not connected to the chest straps of the Webmaster. The new design of the Flagline connects these straps with a solid chest/belly panel. This provides much better support when needing to lift the dog by the padded handle.

Some days it is just too hard to get two dogs looking at the camera at the same time. ???? But I still like how this picture turned out. The pups enjoyed a lovely snowy walk at Wild River State Park today. Glia was super thankful that it was warm enough to leave her boots at home. And I was happy my fingers weren't freezing while I took pictures. #pawsitivelyintrepid #mnstateparks #wildriverstatepark #exploremn #dogfriendship #myfurryfamily
