This size tends to look well proportioned in most bedrooms, and it’s the mattress size we use in our tests. After simulating several years of use by rolling a heavy barrel over the mattress thousands of times, we then repeat the body-support tests to see whether the mattress becomes less supportive over time. An internal pump makes the deflation process very easy and hands-off. If you want to avoid any stress the next time you need to deflate your mattress, an internal-pump airbed is the way to go. An emperor mattress is the biggest you can get, easily big enough for two larger-than-average adults and basically an enormous square. Like bed-in-a-box mattresses, they sometimes need to be aired or left for a fair few hours to regain shape.

Height: A taller mattress is likely to be more comfortable, as it has more air, but, of course, it will be more cumbersome.
