There aren't any seats on the market any more that can be fitted with a lap belt, that's the problem. Most airlines do accept seats without the airline specific approval as long as they can be belt fitted. Was the seat to blame for this child’s injuries? I don’t know. I’m not a crash test expert and don’t pretend to be either. I feel that if the child was travelling in an extended rear facing seat, he maybe wouldn’t have sustained any injuries – but that is just my personal speculation. I am pleased that the mother has now had a seat professionally fitted in her car by a trained fitter to ensure compatibility.
