About this deal

More of this content is slightly toned down here in the later seasons, but more (slightly more graphic) “Thats what she said” jokes are heard along with suggestive dialogue. Dwight also has a sex contract with Angela, where they sleep together on several occasions off-screen, but it is referenced heavily throughout. In one episode, Pam finds Angela naked in her car expecting Dwight. In another episode, PDA is discussed and Dwight reads of everyone who had sex in the workplace. Jim and Pam later come out of a closet suggesting they had sexual intercourse there. I would go into more detail, however there are just too many jokes in the series, but the most severe have been covered. If you didn’t watch the office you’re going to be bored though, it’s def not the book for people who didn’t watch. Some incidents are played for comedy, such as an employee getting injured on the job and having to be hospitalized, punching a wall, getting slapped, etc. Characters comment on a woman's breasts and make inappropriate jokes about her body.

One character has an ongoing problem with alcohol (played for laughs), occasionally getting drunk at office functions where it's served. Another has a history of drug use and still uses marijuana, etc. References to cocaine, and it's implied that one of the characters sells illegal drugs. Oh, I loved this book. I listened to the audiobook which Jenna and Angela read, and there are SO MANY FUN SURPRISES! My wife and I absolutely love this show. We were scrolling through Netflix and stumbled across it, at first we were like "How can you make a 9 season show about an office" but we decided to watch the first episode. We literally ended up watching all 9 seasons in under 4 weeks. We loved it so much we have started to call each other Jim and Pam. If you are bored and can't find a show this is your answer. An intimate, behind-the-scenes celebration of beloved The Office co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey’s friendship, and an insiders' view of Pam Beesly, Angela Martin, and the iconic TV show.Do you think the series paints an accurate picture of office behavior? Or has corporate culture been exaggerated for the sake of comedy? I liked The Office when it was airing live but I’ve come to love it in the past few years as a true comfort show. I know which episode it is in the first 30 seconds but that usually doesn’t stop me from rewatching or laughing like it’s one of my first 3-4 times seeing the episode. The Office is one of my all time favorite shows so when this book came out, I knew I needed to read it. I’m so happy I did. With The Office being one of my all time favorite comedy TV series, The Office BFFs went straight on my tbr the minute I heard about it. I had read The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom on the 2000's two years ago and really enjoyed it, and I had a feeling I would like this book even more.

The Office has suggestive dialogue and some mild sexual references throughout. Most of these aren’t severe and they can be considered mild. There is also some blurred nudity that can contain some sexual images (pictures of people having sex, dangling penises, etc.) Here is some examples of suggestive dialogue shown: We hear “That’s what she said” Jokes (usually not too severe), we hear some conversation about “Boning” people, we hear they Michael “did” a girl.”, we hear talk of boobs. The suggestive and sexual dialogue isn’t really much to worry about, and most episodes have none in it. Common Sense is the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century. DRUG CONTENT: A couple episodes have a primary focus on substances such as Marijuana and several other drugs. Nothing is shown being smoked/consumed however. We only see pictures of the drugs along with the lists of them and confrontations about them (Talks about smoking pot, being offered drugs etc.). Probably the most heavy on substances is season 2 episode 18 “The Drug Test”Fischer and Kinsey, co-hosts of the Office Ladies podcast, are engaging storytellers, and their often hilarious escapades as best friends make this joint tale fascinating for even the most casual fan of The Office. The chapter about the “Death Bus” episode (directed by Bryan Cranston), which nearly killed the entire cast, is laugh-out-loud funny, and Kinsey sums it up appropriately: “Pie mends all things, including near carbon monoxide poisoning.” Mostly employing a dialogue format, the authors walk the line between a behind-the-scenes look at the landmark comedy and the desire to maintain the secrets they share with their friends. (That said, many readers would love to hear the R-rated “master class in 1980s Hollywood gossip” that the authors learned from James Spader.) For hardcore Office fans, Fischer provides personal insight into some of her—and the show’s—most important scenes, including her wedding and what she said to Steve Carell in their final scene together before he left the show. Kinsey discusses the fascinating mechanics of hiding her pregnancy on screen and how she and Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute) navigated their first make-out scene. In addition to numerous insider insights about the creation and filming of the episodes, Fischer and Kinsey reveal much more about their friendship, their decision to launch their podcast—and a media company—together, as well as the struggles of being working mothers. Fischer writes about how she had to return to the show much faster than she wanted to after the birth of her son because, “in our business, there is no paid maternity leave.” Ultimately, the authors manage to make everyone feel like they are also one of their BFFs. Receptionist Pam Beesly and accountant Angela Martin had very little in common when they toiled together at Scranton’s Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. But, in reality, the two bonded in their very first days on set and, over the nine seasons of the series’ run, built a friendship that transcended the show and continues to this day. Sharing everything from what it was like in the early days as the show struggled to gain traction, to walking their first red carpet—plus exclusive stories on the making of milestone episodes and how their lives changed when they became moms—The Office BFFs is full of the same warm and friendly tone Jenna and Angela have brought to their Office Ladies podcast. This book made me so nostalgic and brought such joy to my Office-loving heart! It was so wonderful to hear first-hand accounts of working on The Office and the bond the cast and crew had. I laughed so much while listening and probably had a smile on my face the entire time. B.J. Novak (Ryan) and Mindy Kaling (Kelly) were writers and actors on the show. Paul Lieberstein, (Toby in HR) was a writer without any acting experience and no desire to be an actor. He was written into the show and continued to be included in the show because his deadpan face worked well with Steve Carell's (Michael Scott's) antics.

THE OFFICE BFFS | Kirkus Reviews

They had to, HAD TO know a huge portion of their readers would also be listeners of their Office Ladies podcast. There is very little new material in the book. Hardly any insights can be found. The few new nuggets I gleaned were special, but they were from episodes they haven’t yet covered in the podcast, so probably just a preview of what’s to come. Other than Steve Carell, the cast of The Office were primarily starving artists who had small acting parts and were struggling to eke out a living. They all became great friends and several of them had known each other. As an example, John Krasinski (Jim) and B.J. Novak (Ryan) grew up in the same MA neighborhood. Angela and Kate Flannery (Meredith) had done stand up improv at the same venue. Did you know you can flag iffy content? Adjust limits for Sex, Romance & Nudity in your kid's entertainment guide. Get started Close Did you know you can flag iffy content? Adjust limits for Drinking, Drugs & Smoking in your kid's entertainment guide. Get started Close I usually read fiction, but this book has been one of my favorites of the year. I enjoy The Office, but would consider myself a casual fan, but I love this book. I can only imagine how much diehard fans of the show will like it.

So I was bound to love this book—and I did. I loved reading about the experience Jenna and Angela had while making it. I loved hearing about their relationships with the cast and crew. I felt like I was right there with them on the set—and in a very small way, a part of their amazing friendship. I don’t listen to their podcast, Office Ladies, because I just do not have that attention span but now I really want to. The behind the scenes information and facts were so entertaining to read and even the second to last chapter made me tear up. Like what? 😅🥲 It really felt like they were chatting to me through the book.
